A true cultural center, MA contributes to the vitality of the city. In downtown Rouyn-Noranda since 2012, it uses its large exhibition halls to participate fully in the development of visual arts in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Through its educational programs, it contributes to the appreciation of the arts by school and community audiences as well as by the general public. The MA maintains privileged links with the University of Quebec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Cégep de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue through exhibition and research projects. It also maintains relationships with multiple cultural and community organizations for the programming of events such as storytelling, poetry, theater and concert.
Sensitive to the reality of the First Nations who live on the territory, it maintains special links with their artists whose originality is a striking mark of Anishinabe, Cree and Attikamek cultural richness.
Finally, thanks to the collection, the MA fixes in the collective imagination a strong and singular Nordic identity.
