A Matthew Rankin movie
French version. Canada (Quebec). 2019. 90 min. (13+)
With Dan Beirne, Brent Skagford, Emmanuel Schwartz, Louis Negin.
In a delirious form filled with visual experimentation, Le Vingtième Siècle transports us to Toronto in 1899. A young politician in training, WL Mackenzie King hesitates in love between a Quebec nurse and a British soldier, while having a secret affair with a shoe.
"A "historical" epic that happily blends animation, experimental film, and Canadian heritage minutes. By adapting very freely the life of Mackenzie King, a politician known for his sickly circumspection, the director seems to have found the ideal subject for his leap to feature film. "(Olivier Bouchard, Cinéfilic)
