There is nature to protect, and then there is nature that protects us. Long immersed in art that defends the environment, Véronique Doucet has shifted her approach to embark on a new creative cycle, transitioning from ecofeminism to ecofeminine, from action to contemplation, and from one-way communication to reciprocity. Eager to soak up the energies of the forest to weave together the visible and the invisible, the artist puts her hypersensitivity at the service of listening, observing, and welcoming what the land has to offer her. Through a slow and internal process, she allows her experiences to be transposed into the form of landscapes, capturing images and collecting what makes sense to her, thereby allowing what was previously inaccessible to her consciousness to emerge and be transposed into matter. Using mixed media on her photographs, she simultaneously accumulates ecofacts and artifacts that bring her back to her lineage, reflecting on the legacies that shape us. Is it possible, or even necessary, to sometimes allow ourselves the possibility of uprooting, of breaking with the emotional and relational baggage that transcends generations and weighs heavily on our shoulders?
