I love to have a hot chocolate at Le Gisement after walking the bike path near Osisko Lake. It’s important to do it in this order, it’s the best remedy for mental fatigue due to work and studies.

My treasure in Rouyn-Noranda is definitely the hiking trail around Noranda Lake (Kiwanis Agnico Eagle Recreational Area). What I like the most about this place is the variety of landscapes that follow one another.  It’s a great place to work on your cardio and to unwind from the city bustle with the birds and squirrels.

Patrick R. Resident

One of my pleasures is to drink a latte at Le Gisement Bistro-Chocolaterie after a hike or a day of shopping. It’s warm and comforting!

Fancy a shopping spree?? There are plenty of opportunities for window shopping.

Quartier Centre

The Quartier Centre is sure to charm you with its three streets comprised of 200 stores, service businesses, restaurants and entertainment venues. In summer, an entire section is converted into a pedestrian zone where a host of activities and services unlike any other in the region are offered.

Shopping Centres

You prefer to avoid the risk of getting caught in bad weather? Rouyn-Noranda has two distinct shopping centres. Inaugurated in 1972, Place Rouanda was not only the first shopping centre to open its doors in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, but it was also the first one built north of Montréal. Some fifteen stores and major retail chains have established themselves there.

With nearly forty stores, including major retail chains and local, independent stores, Les Promenades du Cuivre is the largest shopping centre in the region.

Big-Box Stores

For those of you who prefer shopping in big-box stores, your needs will be met in the Senator Development located at the western limit of Rouyn-Noranda’s urban core. Here you will find giants like Walmart, Canadian Tire and Rona.
