Opening on November 5, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Camille Jodoin-Eng creates spaces for contemplation, portals to pass through, allowing us to navigate between the real and the intangible. Through the interplay of mirrors and reflections, she evokes the images and the world that exist within us, which we visualize without ever attaining their physical embodiment. In an intuitive and personal approach, she cultivates a language of symbols and captures in abstraction the observations, thoughts, and emotions that cannot be verbally expressed. Concerned with caring for the environment and interested in the connection between each of its elements, the artist cultivates a sculptural practice comprised of installations that combine glasswork with the use of materials found along her path, forgotten in trash cans or elsewhere.
Camille conceives of each exhibition as a unique space to encapsulate a period of her life, a state of mind, a part of her body imagined as a city to be mapped. Inspired by nature and eager to create a space that invites curiosity and exploration, she presents an exhibition outside the flow of time, composed of diverse works like so many destinations to discover while wandering among them, much like exploring paths and opening our eyes to the riches of a forest. A large spiderweb made of electrical wires and glass beads, glass flowers at the heart of light boxes, a tree where symbols grow on a floor covered in mirrors… In a delicate, intimate aesthetic, calling for calm and introspection, the artist reflects on the coexistence of life and death. Without offering answers, she contemplates our finitude as humans and the fate we reserve for the planet. Above all, she finds refuge in the peace generated by the certainty that it will outlive us.
