Yvon Lemens, born in 1963 in Maniwaki, is a self-taught master sculptor who began sculpting rock at the age of 15. The seventh of twelve children, Yvon developed a heightened sensitivity to his surroundings throughout his childhood.
A resident of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, his years working in the mining industry led him to discover and work with Canada’s magnificent rocks. Kimberlite, Serpentinite, Green Carbonate, and Stromatolite are the materials he favors in creating his works. These rocks, billions of years old, each tell a different chapter of the world’s history.
