The 1970s were rich in culture, music, and songs. A duo of singer-songwriters from Rouyn-Noranda, who came from the Scout movement (Louis Kirouac and Gylles Légaré), performed in song clubs throughout the region. During a visit to Le Peuple in Val-d’Or, they were asked to open for the band Lougarou (which would later become Garolou). With a pianist from Lorrainville (Daniel Loiselle), the trio founded the group En Portage. First, the group wrote and composed its own songs for a show called “Le père Gauthier,” which was performed five times in Abitibi and Témiscamingue.
It was this project that Gylles decided to immortalize by revisiting and polishing eight songs from this unique show. Gylles asked all the members of the band (Louis Kirouac, Daniel Loiselle, Yves Savard, and Luce Chartier) to participate in the recordings. This is part of what you will hear on stage in the atrium of the Rouyn-Noranda library in an acoustic format.
Surrounded by Luce Chartier, Roger Beaulieu, Pierre Tanguay, Pierre Laferté, and Michel Desfossés, this merry band will perform a few songs from the album Poursuivances by the group En Portage during a public and media launch.
A physical album will be available on site for $20.
In the second part of the show, it will be the audience’s turn to sing along with this wonderful group of young retirees, performing popular songs from the 1970s to celebrate their second life.
