An autobiographical monologue imbued with reflection, humour, and lucidity. With humour and without mincing words, the Actor’s character talks about suicide, evoking his brother’s suicide 15 years earlier. He seeks to understand “why.” In complicity with the audience, he shares his reflections, moving from anger to incomprehension to guilt, as if following a predetermined path. In telling his brother’s story, he finds himself revealing his own. His relationships with his parents, his friends, and even with religion—all are defined by the suicide of this figure, who was his hero. He realizes that, since the disappearance of his partner, his whole life has been devoted to picking up the pieces, to living for two. As the sole surviving member of a duo, he realizes that for 15 years he has been forcing himself to perform life in honour of his brother… to the point of turning it into a play.
