Since 2015, the public space of Rouyn-Noranda is enriched more and more by works of art. Municipal or private initiatives, sculptures, murals or bas-reliefs, the presence of these works of art adds an important dose of sense and beauty to the streets and alleys.
The tour proposed here is an overview of 19 of the artworks created by different artists, most of them living in Rouyn-Noranda or in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. They were selected in order to offer the visitor a variety of proposals with resolutely contemporary and daring aesthetics.
By opening the eye, the curious visitor will see along the way other pieces of art that unfold in the setting and that are definitely worth discovering. Public art is a communicative good. It’ s surprising or mysterious, it multiplies as the seasons go by, but above all, it’ s generous. It’s up to you to discover it!
This tour begins on Murdoch Avenue and ends at the Rideau Boulevard overpass. You can either drive or cycle the tour. The first 17 works can be visited on foot relatively easily.
You”ll find technical and qualitative information about the works as well as the artists.
