Summer tours of the Horne Smelter are back! Whether you’re eager to discover the history and operations of the smelter, or simply curious to learn more about metal recycling, these tours are for you!
Come and discover the secrets of transforming a metal of the future by visiting Canada’s only copper smelter. Accompanied by a guide, you’ll first enter the majestic guest house, where celebrities have stayed. You’ll then discover the copper transformation process as you tour the metallurgical facilities. You might be lucky enough to witness a live copper anode casting? Finish your visit at the Horne Mining Museum, where you’ll learn the secrets of Edmund Horne, the prospector who discovered the huge copper and gold deposit named after him. An impressive journey that’s certainly worth the detour!
Participants must be at least 12 years old. Long pants and socks are mandatory. Long hair must be tied back for the factory tour.
