SCÈNES INSOLITES
Élise Massy creates unusual scenes in her works. At first glance, one has the impression of entering an old image by its color, its composition and its general texture. Upon reading, one is quickly caught up in a strange universe obtained through several pictorial and semantic operations. “Through play, hybridization, collage and pastiche, I create conversations between the different components of the work, from which a singular narrative is born. I present the viewer with images that play on shifts in meaning, contradictions, inconsistencies and connections. In doing so, I want to encourage the viewer to question the relationship he has with them”, Élise Massy. Thus, the perceived temporality of the image at the beginning is updated and becomes very contemporary.
