Winner of the title Révélation Jazz Radio-Canada 2020-2021, Carl Mayotte is one of the hottest bassists and jazzmen in Quebec and Canada today.
Having begun his professional career at the age of 16 and completed a master’s degree in jazz performance at McGill University, his virtuosity and versatility have been noticed by many musicians and critics, from Alain Caron to Bass Magazine.
His third album, Escale, won him a Félix award for jazz album of the year in 2022. In 2023, he released his latest album, Carnaval, a tribute to Brazilian music, which earned him an ADISQ nomination, a GAMIQ for jazz album of the year and a Prix Opus nomination.
