It all started with a simple call on social media by artist Ariane Ouellet: a visceral desire to bring voices together around the powerful song Canción sin miedo (“Song Without Fear”), composed in 2020 by Mexican singer Vivir Quintana. This socially conscious work, which has become an emblem of feminist struggles in Latin America, denounces violence against women and celebrates their resilience. It is a cry from the heart, a call for a revolution of consciousness, carried by the beauty and collective power of song.
In Rouyn-Noranda, some 30 people responded to this spontaneous call, moved by the message and motivated by the desire to make this universal voice of solidarity heard. Since May 31, this improvised choir, composed mainly of women—but open to all—has been meeting to learn, rehearse, and perform this song with authenticity.
Beyond the musical aspect, Canción sin miedo becomes a deeply human project: a way to unite, take a stand, transform pain into strength, and celebrate intergenerational and inclusive solidarity. It is a poetic and committed response to the current threats to the rights of women and marginalized groups.
The group will perform this song twice during the 2025 Journées de la culture as a sign of joyful resistance, remembrance, and hope. It will be a powerful moment where art becomes a space for healing, light, and shared strength.
Open to all, no reservation required.
