Amaryllis is studying science at university. Anthony is incarcerated in a penitentiary. The former is high-achieving, rigid, and melancholic despite her comfort and success. The latter is dysfunctional, impulsive, and a bon vivant despite his mistakes and difficulties. They should have lived their lives in parallel, without ever crossing paths. However, they end up in the same small, dreary room where, two hours a week, Amaryllis becomes a French teacher and Anthony a high school student. Over the course of these weekly meetings, they will have to learn to know and understand each other, despite themselves.
Bénévolat is a sensitive and breathless closed-door drama, where words drive the plot but also act as a catalyst, bringing about the unlikely and endearing encounter between two people who have been weakened by their diametrically opposed life experiences.
