Friday: 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The public is warmly invited to come celebrate a milestone in our regional history: the 100th anniversary of the Sûreté du Québec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, and by extension, the centennial of the very first temporary provincial police station established outside of major urban centers, which later became a permanent station.
To mark this anniversary, several activities will take place:
– Police demonstrations: dog handler work, use of the use-of-force scale in interventions, presentation of the various police units.
– Demonstrations by the Fire Safety Department: demonstrations of extrication tools and deployment of the ladder truck.
– Paramedic demonstrations: workshop: “Learn to save a life” where naloxone, epipens, and AEDs will be presented.
– Visits to emergency vehicles and Canadian Armed Forces vehicles for the public.
– Jet ski accident simulation illustrating the risks of impaired driving, in collaboration with our public safety partners.
– Information and recruitment booths: information booths for police units, the Fire Safety Department, paramedics, and the Canadian Armed Forces.
– Family activities: crime scene for young people to solve, drawing contest, mascots, and festive entertainment provided by “MO” from Radio ÉNERGIE.
– Discoveries and souvenirs: historical exhibition tracing the evolution of the police and quiz on police history.
– BBQ to benefit the Thierry Leroux Foundation: combine fun with a good cause; plan to eat on site. Hot dogs, non-alcoholic beverages, and treats will be sold for a cause that is close to our hearts.
Come with your family, friends, or out of curiosity to discover the work of emergency services, immerse yourself in a century of police history, and share a convivial moment with those who have been watching over our safety for 100 years.
A day not to be missed—let’s celebrate our history and our community together!
