Ambitious Mani left her home several years ago to become a lawyer. After receiving this title, she decides to return to her Aboriginal community, hoping to make a difference. She is determined to put an end to the outdated laws on the reserve. To this end, she proposed a referendum to put an end to the prohibition of alcohol. This action will bring her into direct conflict with Laura, a wounded woman who makes her living by selling alcohol illegally. The two women will confront each other as they try to take control of their own destiny, for better or worse.
