Synopsis: Aaju Peter, a renowned Inuk lawyer, has always fought hard to defend the rights of her people. Coming from a historically marginalized and oppressed community, she has been “colonized twice” – first by the European settlers who invaded the Arctic, then by modern Canadian policies and institutions. As she attempts to establish an Aboriginal forum within the European Union, Aaju also faces a complex personal quest to heal her wounds after the unexpected loss of her youngest son.
A new national initiative propelled by documentary distribution platform TENK, La Semaine du Doc offers documentary film screenings in libraries across Quebec, enabling the general public to learn about, discuss and question contemporary issues.
Free admission. All welcome!
