Dick the Turd: Ma ceinture pour chaise is first and foremost about young up-and-coming actors, set designers and filmmakers with a keen interest in the WWE wrestling universe and theatrical classics. The play is produced by Les Impairs in collaboration with Collectif Moutarde Forte.
Dick the Turd is a contemporary Quebec tragedy-comedy. It’s a rewriting of Shakespeare’s Richard III in the form of a contemporary wrestling gala. As wrestling is a living art in its own right, it seemed natural to the team to give it a theatrical voice. With a view to democratizing theater, the language is familiar, and even very Québécois.
The team’s desire: to introduce theater lovers to the world of wrestling, and wrestling fans to the world of theater.
