Inspired by neuroscience and light, this new series by emerging artist Nancy Gilbert from Rouyn-Noranda explores the tense dialogue between control and letting go. The artist composes with lines and contrasts, fluid or broken strokes, sometimes close to dripping, to infuse an intuitive vibration that sets the gaze in motion. Entirely abstract, the works are part of a tight chromatic grammar—white, black, and gold—where the assertive use of gold leaf magnifies the light and intensifies the presence of the surfaces.
