As part of the Journées du patrimoine religieux, come and visit Beaudry’s Saint-Clément church! In addition to hearing a story by Guillaume Beaulieu, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the history of this church and its distinctive architectural features. Appetizers and refreshments will be served.
Built in 1937-1938 to the plans and under the supervision of master carpenter Philippe Levasseur, who also designed the presbytery, this place of worship bears the mark of its builders. Many of the settlers who arrived in Beaudry under the Vautrin plan came from the Mauricie region, and used their skills to build the church. This is undoubtedly reflected in the building’s architectural style, which is unique in the region and ties in with Mauritian traditions in the art of building.
This activity was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Government of Quebec and the City of Rouyn-Noranda under the Entente de développement culturel.
