It took almost two years of preparation to create the majestic work that’s now taking place on the south wall of the Rideau Boulevard viaduct. The 6 artists payed tribute to the singer-songwriter born in Rouyn-Noranda, Richard Desjardins. They were inspired by the lyrics of the poet’s songs. The mural makes sense for the population of Rouyn-Noranda as well as for the population of all Abitibi-Témiscamingue. In 2017, the people of Rouyn-Noranda named Richard Desjardins first on the list of its cultural treasures. This mural reflects the feeling of pride that citizens feel about Richard Desjardins’s art. A masterful work art that makes Abitibi-Témiscamingue shine throughout the Francophonie.
