Do you have children and want a fun and accessible cultural outing? Head to Rouyn-Noranda, a city of culture. Here, culture is child’s play! Here is a list of opportunities to enjoy family-friendly cultural experiences throughout the year.

1. The Musée d’art de Rouyn-Noranda is a must-see for your family outings. With its exhibitions, children’s activity books, and a family space for a moment of creativity and relaxation.
2. The Dumulon General Store and the St. Georges Russian Orthodox Church, which offer a lively experience through an animated tour of these two heritage sites. The store also has a souvenir shop for young and old!
3. The Rouyn-Noranda Municipal Library offers a peaceful and stimulating space for families through various events and activities: story time, readings in the park, shows, a computer lab, workshops, a LEGO table, and comfortable reading areas!
4. L’Écart is an artist-run centre where you can easily enjoy guided and interactive tours and exhibitions, and where children are welcome.
5. Several festivals enliven the city throughout the year, offering families plenty of opportunities for fun. The Festival des Guitares du Monde takes place at the end of May, Osisko en lumière at the beginning of August, the Festival de musique émergente at the beginning of September, and the Festival du cinéma international at the end of October.
6. The city boasts numerous Public artworks : murals, sculptures, and artistic rest areas. Immersion Douce Rebelle offers a tour on Balado Découverte called “Art in Your Eyes,” which allows you to explore the artworks in the heart of Rouyn-Noranda’s streets.
7. Balado Découverte also features various historical walking and listening tours to learn more about the builders of our city! 7. For active families: The trails around Lake Rouyn and the Randonne-Rit are dotted with fun little sculptures. There are also play structures in every neighbourhood, a large pedestrian zone that’s lively all summer long in the city centre with ground-level artworks that become games for children, and public pianos to play.
